The content flywheel: why GDG renewed three years running
GDG Goa renewed its media partnership with ArioPix for three consecutive events because stakeholder-specific reels — made for speakers, sponsors, and dignitaries to post on their own handles — turned every stakeholder into a promoter, growing each edition's audience.
What is a content flywheel for events?
A content flywheel is a self-reinforcing loop. ArioPix produces stakeholder-specific content; the organiser distributes it; speakers, sponsors and dignitaries post it on their own handles; every post reaches new networks; reach multiplies; next year's audience grows; and the aftermovie opens the next edition — which starts the loop again. Each turn of the wheel makes the next one easier.
Every stakeholder who posted our content became a promoter of the event. That's why GDG came back — three years in a row.
Why do stakeholder-specific reels outperform one recap video?
A single generic recap has exactly one distributor: the organiser. A stakeholder reel system has dozens. When a speaker receives a reel cut specifically around their session, they post it — because it makes them look good. The same is true for sponsors and dignitaries. Each of those posts carries the event's brand into an audience the organiser could never reach directly.
How does an aftermovie recruit next year's audience?
The official aftermovie isn't a closing formality — it's the opening of the next edition. Screened to open the following year's event, it sets the tone and reminds returning attendees why they came back. Shared online, it becomes the single most persuasive recruitment asset the organiser has: proof, in motion, of what the event feels like.
What role did FPV play?
FPV was the wow moment. ArioPix flew an FPV drone live through the venue as an audience spectacle — and the setup shot itself became a signature clip in the final film. It's the kind of moment people film on their own phones and post, feeding the flywheel further. You can read the full story on the GDG DevFest project page.
How can any organiser apply this?
The flywheel isn't unique to one kind of conference. Any event with stakeholders — a corporate summit, a wedding, a community festival — can run it. The principle is the same: don't make one video for yourself; make many, each designed to be posted by the person it features. Turn your stakeholders into your distribution.
